About Lantern Hop

Lantern Hop is a vertical jumper built around one decision: left or right. Lumi always jumps the same height and distance, so the whole game is about reading where the next lantern will be when you land. Early lanterns sit still and wide; later they swing on their strings and some of them fade away a second after you touch them. There is no run button, no double jump and no timer, just the climb, which makes it an easy game to pick up in a queue and a hard one to put down.

How to play

1. Tap the left half of the screen to hop up and to the left, tap the right half to hop up and to the right. On a keyboard use the left and right arrows.
2. Land on a lantern to stop. Every new lantern you reach raises your height score, and coins add 15 points.
3. Higher up, lanterns start to swing and purple lanterns fade a moment after you land. Keep moving.
4. Fall below the screen and the run ends. You can continue once per run by watching a short ad.

Tips

• Wait for a swinging lantern to come toward you before you hop; jumping early makes you land on its edge.
• Purple lanterns fade after you land. Hop off them immediately rather than lining up the perfect next jump.
• Coins are worth 15 points, but a safe landing is worth more than a risky coin.
• You bounce off the side walls, so a hop toward the wall near the edge is often safer than it looks.
