About Glyph Lock

Glyph Lock is a daily rotation puzzle. A lock is made of concentric rings, each carrying eight glyphs, and some of the rings are chained together so that turning one turns its partner backward. The goal is simple to state and fiddly to do: bring the yellow key glyph of every ring to the marker at the top. Each day produces one lock from the date, identical for every player, with a par based on how it was scrambled. Practice mode offers unlimited random locks when the daily one is done.

How to play

  1. The lock has three to five rings. Drag a ring sideways to turn it one step, or press 1–5 to select a ring and the arrow keys to turn it.
  2. Some rings are chained to another ring (shown by ⛓ and a number). Turning one turns the other in the opposite direction.
  3. Solve the lock by bringing the key glyph of every ring, shown in yellow, to the marker at the top.
  4. The daily lock is the same for every player and counts toward your streak. Practice mode gives unlimited random locks.

Tips

  • Solve from the outside in. The outer ring is usually unchained and can be fixed last without disturbing the others.
  • A chained pair moves in opposite directions. Turning the pair eight times returns both rings to where they started.
  • If a ring is chained to one you have already solved, turn the pair and then correct the solved ring.
  • The par is the number of scramble moves. Beating it is possible when scrambles cancel out.

Is the daily lock the same for everyone?

Yes, it is generated from the date, so friends can compare move counts.

What does the chain icon mean?

That ring is coupled to the ring with that number and turns the opposite way whenever either one is turned.

How is the streak counted?

Solve the daily lock on consecutive days. Practice locks do not affect it.
